Chapter 49: The Matters of Anhui’s Heart

“Turned stupid?” It was rare to see such a sluggish expression on Anhui and Qianhe Liyou also felt rejuvenated.
She waved her hands in front of Anhui, looking at him with a joking expression.

Anhui finally reacted, but it did not seem to be much better than when he hadn’t reacted.
His face turned red, his lips and teeth trembled and he suddenly stepped back a few steps and knelt on the ground.

“Empress…” The Empress had kissed him, but how could this happen? Why did the Empress kiss him, how could she kiss him? Was this teasing him or something else…

Anhui’s mind was in a tangled mess, and there were thousands of words that he wanted to say but he could not utter.
As such, he merely called out to the Empress and knelt there in silence.

“Why aren’t you speaking?” If it wasn’t for her deep understanding of Anhui, she would really think that this man had treated her like a snake, avoiding her by jumping so far and moving so agilely away.

“This subordinate…has nothing to say.” As for what the Empress meant, he did not understand and he did not dare to think about it.

Nothing to say…Qianhe Liyou observed Anhui who had seemed to calm down and shook her head in boredom, “Anhui, you are not cute like this…”

His lowered face flushed again, and the hot temperature could now be felt by himself, “Empress, this subordinate is not cute, please…” He wanted to ask the Empress to stop teasing him, but upon further reflection, this was not the first time the Empress had teased him.
What qualifications did he have to make such a request!

“Say it, why do you keep trailing off?” There was clearly a stomachful of questions that were being unsaid, but he didn’t say anything.
To what extent could this man endure? Today’s blood feeding and kissing he could pretend that nothing happened.
But, if she took him to bed, could he still pretend that nothing happened? Just what was this? With strong, unyielding patience or low self esteem, he believed that he could just easily overlook this matter like it was but an insignificant existence.

“This subordinate…really has nothing to say.”

Hearing these seven words really made her feel a little frustrated.
Even after being taken advantage of like this, was he truly that legendary and rumored cold-blooded man infamous in the Qianhe Dynasty?

“Anhui, what do you think of zhen making you a concubine?”  If he had nothing to say, she would make it so that he would have to speak.
She did not believe that after saying this, he would still stay silent.

“Empress, you must be joking?” How could this be possible? How could he be included in the harem just based on his qualifications? Just look at the consorts in the harem, which one was not a stunning man with an extraordinary temperament, just where was a place for him? He was not worthy!

“This monarch is not joking…it’s just that…” Qianhe Liyou purposefully paused, waiting for the other party’s response.

“It is just what?” Sure enough, Anhui immediately asked, but after the words were spoken, he finally reacted.
How could he be so anxious? Then was he truly expecting something?

“You are the leader of the Anbu Black Ops, to let you give up such power….that would be wronging you…” Qianhe Liyou did not deny that there was a tentative, underlying purpose to her words.

“Empress, this subordinate is undeserving of your grace.
It is an honor for all men to be able to serve you.
This subordinate does not have this blessing and is unworthy to serve you.
The Anbu Black Ops that are under this subordinate’s supervision, it is all due to the Emperor’s trust in your subordinates.
If  this subordinate did something wrong or did not do well, the Empress can just replace this subordinate, there will be no complaints!”

Grievance, feeling wronged, the Empress truly did not understand him, nor did she truly fathom the mind of  men.
No matter how powerful he was or how high his status was,  how could it compare to the unspeakably strong feelings he harbored in his heart? If he was allowed to choose, maybe he would not even hesitate, because he long knew what was most important to him!

“Unworthy? Why do you say you are unworthy?” In her eyes, Anhui was a real man, mature and steady after experiencing wind and frost in addition to being extremely wise and capable, all coexisting with a deeply reserved temperament.
He had his own persistence and stubbornness, often knowing what he wanted.
In her opinion, the only aspect that could be called a shortcoming was that slight degree of low self-esteem, but this also softened his rigid character and made him more humane, it was not at all that bad.

Hearing the Empress’ question, Anhui inadvertently caressed the scar on his face.
The scar was already very light, but it was still quite obvious…

Seeing Anhui’s actions, Qianhe Liyou was a little astounded and thought of something, this man couldn’t be thinking he was inferior because of his appearance right? This was truly too unfathomable!

“Identity, family background, appearance, talents, virtue, and character, all of this makes this subordinate unworthy!” Anhui seemed to have recovered from his initial surprise, and his speech and behavior were much calmer.
He treated the Empress’ questions like it was just a report on official court affairs and he no longer paid scrupulous attention to detail and hesitated in his actions.

Qianhe Liyou once again praised the man’s calmness in her heart.
This was where Anhui’s true ability lied and this is also what she admired about him.

“Identity and family background, you are the leader of the Anbu Black Ops, and one of the most powerful men in the entire Qianhe Dynasty.
Regardless of one’s appearance, the benevolent sees benevolence, the wise sees wisdom[1].
As for virtue and character, you have been doing things for zhen for a long time.
If your morality and character were not good, how could zhen use you to do things? Your reasons, they all seem to be accusing zhen of improperly using people.”

What’s more, she had never cared about these things.
Talking about this with Anhui, it could only show that she was in a good mood, and moreover, the person in front of her also made her feel good…Qianhe Liyou was a very casual and carefree person.
Feeling “full”, she seemed to be in a very good mood.
Her eyes swept around the garden, and she observed that the location seemed to be extremely secluded.
She walked towards a big tree while talking to Anhui and sat down against the big tree.
Looking at Anhui playfully, she beckoned to him.

Anhui had some doubts, but he also got up and walked over, “Empress?” He did not understand the Empress’ intentions, but seeing the Empress’ carefree actions, there was a touch of gentleness in the pretending calm and stagnant eyes.

“Sit down.” Qianhe Liyou patted the pace beside her, motioning for Anhui to sit next to her.

Anhui hesitated, but in the end, he sat down as ordered, but he was blatantly much farther away from the Empress.
His posture was extremely upright and his whole body was much more tense as compared to when he was standing.

Qianhe Liyou smiled, but it was still a wickedly evil smile.
She did not say anything, but swiftly put her hand on Anhui’s half-bent leg and straightened it out, laying down on top of them under Anhui’s astonished gaze.

“Zhen feels sleepy, and wants to rest for a while.” After saying that, Qianhe Liyou closed her eyes and rested, as if she truly did not want to be disturbed.

Anhui’s eyes widened, his lips opening, but he could not utter what was on the tip of his tongue.
His mind and heart were a mess.
He did not understand that while they were talking about such serious issues just now, but now they were in such a situation in the blink of an eye….

The surrounding atmosphere was extremely serene and quiet, and the Empress closed her eyes as if she was sleeping, appearing  much less aggressive and more peaceful.
Just looking at this, he felt rather silly and all other sounds seemed to disappear.
His eyes were only filled with the person in front of him…
