[Body trembling from a shot to the head, Mary staggered but did not collapse.

She continued to talk to the person in front of her with a low and hoarse voice caused by something blocking her windpipe “Karina, you don’t—want to keep looking…..”

With the hand holding her gun shaking, Karina tried to keep calm while yelling: “I have to do this, all this evil must be destroyed!”

It was then that Mary’s twisted and broken skull suddenly swelled into an unidentifiable mass of flesh; her appearance was beyond recognition at this point.

“So, my present is your future—this is God’s punishment.” [1]

Bang—

Mary’s head burst open.

Fortunately, Karina quickly darted behind the sofa and avoided being hit by the blood.

Everything quieted.

Karina crawled up and stared at the puddle of goop with a sorrowful look on her face.

She reached out and clenched a necklace around her neck, hoping that the charm the priest gave her would bolster her courage.

The door of the room suddenly slammed open.

Karina had no time to control her sentiment and raise her gun before she got shot in the neck with a needle full of anesthetic.

She thudded to the ground heavily, white light clouding her mind.

Who…?

The last thing she heard before she fell into a coma was a rough, male voice reporting: “Your Excellency Bishop, we’ve found the Virgin Mary.”

She remembered the name of the religious group recorded in the journal she found—the Holy Sect.

Inside the ominous manor, several men dressed masquerading as bodyguards scooped up the unconscious blonde girl, and then left the building.

After a long time, low laughter echoed from inside the empty home.

“Jiejiejie…” Judgement Day has arrived…】

The dark-haired and green-eyed teenager stared blankly at the driver in the front seat.

“Please slow down.”

The driver looked at the teenager sitting in the passenger seat via the rearview mirror.
In the dark of a rainy night, this kid really had some momentum.

A few drops of cold sweat beaded on the man’s forehead before he slowed down obediently, maneuvering much more smoothly.

Peeking at the young man averting his dreadful green gaze, the driver nervously exhaled, releasing some stagnant air from his lungs.

Now that he thought about it, it was strange.
He’d been in the industry for many years and weathered many storms, but got frightened by a little brat who hadn’t even grown hair down there.
It was really embarrassing.

Despite thinking such, the driver drove as honestly as a quail, not daring to play any tricks.

While remaining silent the entire time.

The anxious chauffeur deliberately maintained a steady pace in order to appease the weird child behind him, but fortunately the town was small, so he quickly arrived at Zhou Yu’s house.

Zhou Yu got out of the car, walked to the driver’s side, and handed over the taxi fare.

The driver quickly counted the bills, and then just as quickly turned the key and left.

Zhou Yu watched the taxi get farther and farther away, and, humming softly, turned around and unlocked the door.

As soon as he entered the house, Zhou Yu noticed that it was very dark, not even a single light was on.

Flicking the light switch allowed him to see the figure that was sitting on the couch.

It was a middle-aged man, flabby and wan.

Who was panting while holding a bag of powder.

“Hah, haah, hahhhh-save me-hah.” Weird noises came out of his mouth and his eyes shifted around constantly with a hint of despair.

Zhou Yu blinked, sitting indifferently on the chair opposite him, just quietly watching him moan and groan in pain.

“I saw you pick this up from a car earlier this afternoon.” Zhou Yu palmed the God’s Blessing and examined it carefully, “I thought you had recovered, but now I think that you just forced yourself to get up out of your desperation for this.”

“Momentary lucidity?”

Zhou Yu looked at the white powder left on the corner of Eugene’s mouth and held his own chin, uttering, “Maybe not, you look like you’re about to keel over, but you looked fine before.”

“Looks like you’re taking too much.”

Eugene’s eyes widened narrowly inside his hideous face and he shouted indistinctly, “Hey-you, hahh, little bastard! Hurry up! Take me to-huhhh, the hospital!”

The pools of Zhou Yu’s emerald green eyes surged with cold derision.
He tossed the bag of powder into the trash can and jeered, “It’s a pity that your favorite “blessing of god” will kill you.”

He knew for a fact that the curse he implanted into his drawing was far from deadly—he didn’t want to get rid of his father right away because he hadn’t heard anything about his mother.

Eugene’s appearance now was purely from his own greed.

“I’ll ask you one last time, do you know what happened to my mother, your wife?” Zhou Yu interrogated, eyes locked onto Eugene’s dully shifting ones.

Eugene began to froth at the mouth, hazy mindedly cursing: “Hahh, that bitch…huhhh, that bitch, dared to take away my drinking money, the slut!”

Zhou Yu glared at him with eyes like icy daggers.

He should have known that this piece of trash could never realize his mistakes.

“Hahhh, hehe, bitch, serves you right to be a sacrifice! You dare to report the Archbishop, you bitch, hahhh, hahhhhh—!” Eugene’s eyes had began to lose focus, like he was staring into an empty void, as if looking at the woman who had tried to keep him in check.

Zhou Yu clenched his fists, and his breathing fluctuated violently.

Sacrifice.

Archbishop.

Those words always made him remember some unsavory things.

“When I was a kid, you always locked me in the cabinet and said you wanted to teach me independence.
I know you actually just thought it was troublesome to take care of me.” Zhou Yu ridiculed the man on the sofa.
“Later, you began to indulge in the stupid “God’s Blessing”, beat and berated me all the time; sometimes I even starved for days on end.”

“One time, I almost died because you slammed an alcohol bottle into my head.”

Zhou Yu remembered being a child who was too terrified to even cry, and an unfamiliar fury coursed through his entire body.

“…”

Looking at the man who had started talking nonsense, Zhou Yu forced himself to calm down and turned to leave the living room.

He knew the truth of everything, although it was painful.

“No, save me-save me! I’ll take you to your mother tomorrow! Huehh-in the villa—”

Behind him, Eugene continued weakly calling for forgiveness.

Towards the man who was still trying to manipulate him, Zhou Yu ignored his plight and strode to his bedroom.

Closing the door, Zhou Yu wiped some teardrops off his blank face, showered, got changed, and finally laid in bed.

He looked out at the bright points of stars in the dark sky, beautiful eyes were full of complex emotions.

After a while, he closed his eyes and peacefully fell asleep.

***

Darkness abounded, and the entire town had entered a sweet dreamland.
Only the villa, which was so securely abandoned, was brightly lit.

Inside, the white-haired captain, Al, looked at the burly Warren standing beside him and inquired, “What do you think of this plan? Is it difficult?”

Warren looked at the list projected on his watch and shook his head expressionlessly: “Don’t worry, Al, these students are weak, and I’ll bring them over smoothly.”

Milo, the redhead, cheered on Warren with excitement: “Come on, big guy! The future of the team is on your shoulders!”

Warren looked at this child-like innocence, wondering if Milo had never grown up, and  with a milder aura around him corrected: “It’s not so exaggerated, in fact, whether or not these people are actually important, killing at least one of them would still complete the mission.”

Milo grinned, “You don’t need to lie to me, Captain, uh, hum, Al just told me that those small fries aren’t enough for the Lord God, we have to take out the supporting characters! “

After hearing that, Wallen smiled helplessly, and looked down again to confirm the list.

Obviously, he knew that as well.

[Full Names: Johnny Joyce, Zhou Yu, Kenny Jessley, Vincent Fergus]

“Al, I’ll go back to the room to rest first, just in case Emily gets suspicious.” Warren flicked away the projection on his watch.

Al acquiesced, “Okay, you go first, you worked hard.
Try to follow the plan as closely as possible.
We need to finish this in the next few days, before the judgement.”

Warren nodded and left.

Several other reincarnators in the room also vacated after Warren did.
In the end, Al was left all alone.

He loosened his collar and then realized that he was thirsty, so the man reached for the tea cup on the table next to him.

Crackkk—Crang!!!

The tea cup shattered, and the pieces somehow threw themselves into his arm.

Al frowned, straight up pulling the pieces out and ignoring the blood that welled up.

Due to his line of work, he was used to pain, but he still felt uneasy, as if what just happened was a bad omen.

He came from a more advanced planet in the interstellar world; his race had evolved to instinctively sense oncoming danger, sometimes even things such as cups breaking out of nowhere was a direct warning from the heavens.

That was one of the most important reasons for his rise to power as a leader of one of the top 5 teams-sometimes his seemingly insignificant perception of danger had saved his entire group.

And now, he felt the looming sense of death, the same ominous force he faced in other worlds right before the BOSSes were about to end his existence.

This world is getting more and more dangerous.

Al sent a message warning of his premonition to the team members, then gloomily stood by the floor-to-ceiling window and stared at the lonely forest outside the window.

“I hope everything’ll work out.”

He sighed helplessly.

***

Just after dawn, Zhou Yu was awoken by  a “dudududu” sound.

He opened his eyes and looked at the crow who was still pecking at the window.

That red-eyed crow saw him look over and immediately stopped knocking on the glass.
He behaved like a child who got caught doing something illegal red-handed.

A grin started spreading on Zhou Yu’s pale face.
He put on a coat after getting up and then opened the window.

The bird on the windowsill didn’t get antsy from his movements, still watching Zhou Yu, as if he would disappear at any moment.

Zhou Yu slowly reached out his hand and stroked the crow’s smooth and silky feathers.

“Are you hungry?” The dark-haired and green-eyed boy looked down at the crow, and in the reflection of his eyes, it seemed that the only thing that existed in the world was that crow.

The youth’s eyes crinkled in happiness, and a soul-stirring smile curled his lips.

The crow stretched out its wings and rushed into the boy’s arms.

Zhou Yu held the scavenger in his arms in a daze.

He had never seen such a fearless animal.
