Ch 18 – Second Generation Ancestor x Illegitimate Child: How Disappointing

All of a sudden, the sound of a phone vibrating disturbed the peace in the room.
Ye Zhi held his phone and looked at Lin Sui very apologetically, saying a little flustered: “Young master, it’s my home’s phone number, can I go pick up the call first?”

Lin Sui lifted his eyes, his tone casual: “Just answer it here.”

Ye Zhi was fixed in place by his gaze, and could only stiffly connect the call.

“I remember telling you to not cross the line, look for an excuse to leave his room now.”

The voice coming through the phone was deeply angry.
When he heard this, Ye Zhi immediately put on a worried expression, saying: “Got it.”

The call was hung up, and Ye Zhi looked at Lin Sui with a face burning with anxiety: “Young master, there was an emergency at home, I have to go back.”

It seemed to be a really urgent matter, even his face turned pale with worry.

Ye Zhi looked at the young man under the lights, and his heart tightened when he was swept over by that inexplicable gaze.

In that instant, he even felt that the person in front of him could see through his disguise, watching his performance with considerable amusement, like a viper moving slowly through the shadows, which could frighten people’s hearts even if it never moved and simply coiled itself in place.

After a long time, or perhaps after a single moment, Ye Zhi heard a soft voice carrying a trace of a smile.

“Go.”

Ye Zhi hurriedly left the room as though he had been granted amnesty.

It was only when the movement outside the closed door faded away that Lin Sui laughed.

“Really can’t take a joke ah.”

The low murmur blended into the night.

The second day, Lin Sui didn’t see Ye Zhi in the villa.

“Where is he?”

A servant answered: “Something happened at his home so he had to go back, he will probably return in a few days.”

Lin Sui responded, ate his breakfast, and left the house to go to school.

He went into the lab after changing his clothes and disinfecting himself, the colleagues that were working on a project greeted him and then buried their heads back into their research.

“A-Sui, there’s been progress on the experiment from a few days ago…..”

His partner Fang Yuwei walked over with the experiment report in his hand and showed it to Lin Sui.

Lin Sui nodded, and walked with him towards the lab table.

In order to further his own goals, Lin Sui was willing to learn more.
Unfortunately, doing scientific research was indeed harder than doing business, his research could not be considered brilliant but he was able to find the right path, and his partner would follow his path to open up wider horizons.

Fang Yuwei and Gao Jing were similar in that they both had firm commitments towards certain things, but unlike Gao Jing’s hesitant abandonment, Fang Yuwei had a pretty good family background, he was born in a family of researchers and had been a top student since he was young, his character was subdued and he whole-heartedly dedicated himself to his beloved research, like a Sweeper Monk1 character.

Lin Sui approached him after learning about him and explained the field of his research, and Fang Yuwei was very interested.
As a result, Lin Sui took the lead in making this project, bringing in a group of talented people with a common direction.
This was also one of the reasons why he took the exam to get into this school.

He didn’t lack investment money, he only needed to see the fruits of his work, and these fruits were becoming more and more plump under his eyes.

This time, Lin Sui stayed in the research lab for a few days before returning home.
Fang Yuwei dragged him to work on new developments without stopping to sleep or rest, and it was only until they got the results of their data that Fang Yuwei released him.

Lin Sui pressed his slightly aching temples and returned to the villa.

There were no signs of the young man who was sure to come greet him a few days ago.
Lin Sui asked someone to turn on the water for him a little tiredly, and inquired about Ye Zhi’s whereabouts.

“He resigned two days ago, saying someone in his family was seriously ill and he had to look after them.
We’ve already recruited new people.”

The servant answered factually, carefully looking at the young master’s expression.

He originally thought the young master would get angry, but seeing the young master unexpectedly reveal a small smile, he didn’t dare look again, thinking that it was just fine if he wasn’t angry.

Lin Sui didn’t expect that Yan Qin would be so overly sensitive, if he had known earlier, he would have kept the man behind and played around some more.

He sat on a rattan chair in the garden, waiting until the servants filled the water so he could take a bath, and turned on his cellphone in this spare time.

Some areas of the villa had been renovated in these two years, the garden in particular, and following the habits of the original owner according to his character, he also installed some cameras there.

He rewinded back to the day that Ye Zhi had resigned, Lin Sui froze the image at a certain moment and narrowed his eyes.

He got up and wandered around, pretending to look at the flowers in the garden.
It was currently spring, so the garden was flourishing, and everywhere was filled with blooming colours.

Lin Sui walked to a corner, and looked at a pink and white flower blooming there.

In the stamens at the centre of the flower, there was a little bright red stamen which was particularly different from the others when carefully examined.

This thing should be very expensive to make, but the puppy had the heart of a thief, not the guts of one.
Why not be a little bolder and put it in his room or bathroom? What could he see with this thing miserably shrunk back in this corner?

How disappointing.

On a distant shore, Yan Qin watched the quiet scene in the garden while doing his work.
Lin Sui hadn’t returned for several days, but he didn’t worry.

He would be happy if he could catch sight of Lin Sui’s figure, even if it was only the silhouette of his shadow as sunshine fell on the ground, but if he couldn’t see it, this scenery was also nice.

Yan Qin knew he was no good like this, and he knew that Lin Sui didn’t care about him at all.
He was like a lowly voyeur in the shadows, but so what?

He would often dream about him, not about those charming and gentle scenes, but rather about the day he left.

He was under the tree, and Lin Sui was upstairs.

They were separated by shadows and moonlight, like an expansive river of stars, with the other side far out of reach.

In his dream, Lin Sui would light the cigarette, and those shadows would turn into a dense black colour, smudging the world into an abyss, and the moonlight would float into the sky, and only a little scarlet dot would remain eternally amidst the smoke, like it had been branded into the bottom of his heart, scorching.

An unusual change on the computer screen quickly attracted his attention, he looked at the approaching figure in the shot and his eyes slightly lit up.

But as that figure he yearned for in his dreams got closer and closer, Yan Qin also got more and more agitated.

Had he been found out?

Yan Qin was almost holding his breath as he looked at the screen, they were obviously separated by thousands of miles, but it was as if Lin Sui was right in front of him.

Just like a few years ago, when Lin Sui had stepped on his chest.

He looked at Lin Sui’s appearance with a little obsession, comparing it with that of three years ago.
Lin Sui’s features had widened a little, compared with his delicate appearance when he was younger, he now looked sharper, adding a little bit of mature charm, but he was still as brazen and wilful as before, making it even more unforgettable.

The young man’s fair hands were at the end of his line of sight, then there was darkness.

Had it been removed and thrown away?

Yan Qin was a little disappointed, and he inattentively looked at the screen.

This was the technology his team had newly developed not long ago, preparing to sell it to the domestic military.
This was something he’d specially made to be even more special to bring back into the country, it didn’t use radio signal technology, but had better high definition.

If he could catch a sight of the young master, it would have completed it’s mission even if it was discarded.

Yan Qin sighed lightly, looking at the pitch-black screen, and continued the work he’d just been doing.

His eyes would still sweep past that dark screen from time to time, as if waiting for the final outcome of the discarded thing before cutting off the connection.

Not long after, the image on the screen changed.

Was that…..
water?

In the faintly distorted light, crystal clear water rippled.

Yan Qin even saw other flowers, damply floating on the surface of the water.

He suddenly had a thought that made his heart skip a beat, and stopped caring about the things he was doing, fixedly staring at the screen on his computer.

Everything was quiet and without sound, like a dynamic, brightly coloured picture scroll.

In the scattered light, that calf stepping in was particularly distinctive.

The flowing lines of his body were immersed in the water, seeming like an exposed god born of the sea.

Yan Qin’s face blushed with bashfulness and embarrassment, and he was at a loss as to where to put his limbs, but his line of sight was firmly glued and did not move away.

The flower stamen floated up and down, following the movements of the ripples, and Yan Qin’s field of view also swayed up and down like a lost fish.

Lin Sui propped up his head and calmly twirled the petals in his fingers, letting the water soak his whole body.

He hoped that Yan Qin’s thing would be a little useful and not just break down when put in the water, otherwise it would be a waste of his thoughts and that would just be dull.

But Lin Sui guessed that Yan Qin would probably not make a shoddy toy to come show off in front of him.
He casually fished up a beach rose and crushed it in his palm.

That thread of malice was unbridledly released without being seen by anyone, melting into the steam filling the room.

The petals stuck to his skin with the water, and the pale red flower sap diffused along with the ripples in the water.

The lustrous white and beautiful red were like flexible blades of water, intertwining together into deadly colours.

That blue butterfly fluttered in the water, emitting a disorienting poisonous powder even across the screen.

With the water dripping down, the inky hair contrasted more and more against his fair skin, making his raised brows seem as if they were naturally affectionate.

He didn’t need to do anything, the believer was willing to sink down into captivity.
